We have to admit it, part of knocking down JustSingles.com is because they don’t acknowledge our gay and bi brothers and sisters. We think they’re a Christian site, since the only options are “men looking for women” and “women looking for men”, and not to bash Christians or anything, but that’s just not our scene. We’re not interested in anything like the restrictiveness of some Christian beliefs, and we don’t want to find a woman who seems awesome only to find out she wants twenty kids and to never leave the kitchen. We’ll take a sandwich, we just also want to hang out with her. Maybe we’re weird, but we want to be friends with the person we end up with. It doesn’t seem as likely, when we’re not Christian and are looking on a Christian site. So we had to downgrade it for that, too.
JustSingles.com: Review Our Results Using The JustSingles.com Site
JustSingles.com doesn’t hold up so well once we lay out the numbers. Sites like Match.com can earn us three hundred or more responses to the messages we send out. JustSingles.com, on the other hand, got us a total of twenty-three responses. That’s 4.6%. Now, we will credit them with this: none of the women who replied had fake profiles or pictures that obviously weren’t of them. There were even four or five who didn’t have MySpace shots, and one was a smoking hot redhead.
Unfortunately, none of them ended up with a date set. Not even with the redhead. That one was on us, though; she mentioned being Quiverfull, we looked that up, and we deleted her message. Too bad, she was gorgeous, too. The others just kind of petered out. One of them had a vague, “Maybe in two weeks we could go to a movie,” but that didn’t go anywhere. Look at our top sites, on the other hand, where we set up a dozen or more dates. It says a lot that we couldn’t get any set up out of five hundred tries.
JustSingles.com Issues: 3 Things JustSingles.com Didn’t Do Well
The biggest drawback of JustSingles.com is one we’ve already mentioned: the Christian thing. While the users they exclude wouldn’t affect our pool of potential dates, it’s still bigoted, and we don’t particularly like it. We have gay friends, and we wouldn’t pay for a membership at a site that told them they weren’t welcome if we didn’t need to for the sake of fairness.
Sure, not all women are going to be fundie Christians just because they’re on a Christian dating site. They could be perfectly wonderful, have politics that match with ours, everything. But the fact that they’re on a Christian singles site implies they don’t want to be with anyone but a Christian. Maybe we’re unusual—we don’t think so—but we don’t want to limit our dating pool by something as ridiculous as religion. As long as their religion accepts our dogs and doesn’t think people like us should die, we’re cool with them, and we think they should be cool with us.
JustSingles.com Review: Is JustSingles.com Legit & Worth Joining?
Unless JustSingles.com blew us away with the number of replies we got and the dates we set up, it couldn’t rank high in our reviews just because they exclude gay, bi, and lesbian people. We might be a bunch of straight dudes figuring out how to help other straight dudes score, but that doesn’t mean we’re anti-gay or anything. JustSingles.com, however, seems to be, and that knocks it way down. It doesn’t help itself with how few results we got and the fact that we got no dates. We think JustSingles.com might want to examine some of its business practices.
